It's well past 9 p.m. in Pune and Sudhir Pachpore looks tired. There is one more drill left to do before he leaves for home. Every evening he leads a group of young professionals through an hour-long routine thatÕs the mainstay of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS).
Pachpore runs night shakha (branches) for young professionals who do not have time for those held traditionally early morning or evening. “We had to change the timings to suit modern lifestyle,” he says. The highly secretive, slightly controversial and always mysterious Hindu organisation is changing.
The ÔsanghÕ, as it's known, has a wide network of organisations (some call them fronts) and activists (called ÔswayamsevaksÕ) in the country and is the biological parent of the countryÕs main opposition party the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
It was said the sangh was shrinking and it had to Ñ very quickly Ñ think of ways to make itself more relevant. “ItÕs not true,” says Rakesh Sinha, who authored a book on the RSS. “It has been changing in keeping with the rest of the society.”
ItÕs trying to become everything to everyone. There are drills meant for students, for entrepreneurs and there are clubs for those who feel a little antsy about associating themselves with the sangh. But it is taking care to ensure there is no dilution of its core ideology Ñ a Hindu nation. Mohan Bhagwat, an RSS veteran, has said, "We are not averse to changing but we will not change one thing Ñ our slogan of Bharat Hindu Rashtra hai.” It has been changing behind the façade it keeps of a regressive and rigid outfit. There is a general recognition of the situation on ground Ñ things are no longer the same.
Night shakha, for instance, is not the only modification of the sacrosanct sangh ritual. Others include cyber-shakha, the most representative of the new sangh. A swayamsevak switches on the computer, logs in and the shakha is on. It can last between 30 and 45 minutes Ñ everything included, yoga instructions, discussion points and, of course, the prayer. Swayamsevaks are free to use web-cam and chat to help them get on with the lessons.
The RSS is changing, incrementally Ñ no sudden bursts of inspiration, but slowly and surely. Three years ago, the sangh acknowledged Baba Ramdev-driven yoga frenzy and even allowed it at its shakhas. It has also taken to technology with amazing enthusiasm -its archives are being digitalized, from speeches to documents. And it keeps a very close eye on what was being said and reported about it Ñ through real-time monitoring units.This desire to change and to become more acceptable is the result of it being “so conscious of its image”, as an old RSS-watcher who requested anonymity put it. In fact, there have been unconfirmed reports that sangh wants to change its trademark khaki shorts Ñ they do look funny.
“There is no move to give up the shorts,” said a sangh insider, adding, “but people are not killed for not wearing khaki shorts to the shakhas Ñ you are free to wear what you like.” IsnÕt that a concession to changing times?
The current incremental changes are being compared to two watershed breaks in the sangh's 83-year-old history Ñ when like now core values didn't change but the approach to the goal did.
The first happened way back in 1943-44 (18 years after its birth in 1925) when it gave up its then uniform --a very military-type fatigues Ñ and took to khaki shorts. The second big change was in 1977-78, when sangh banned its members from holding government office.

Perturbed by hackers attempts to spoil various Hindutva related discussion forums on Orkut, the popular social networking website, the supporters of the Sangh Parivar linked communities have decided to prevent such acts by joining hands.
Presently, the alleged hacked communities include Hinduism, Jai Hanuman, Lakshmi Mata, Veda - sanatan dharma and Lord Shiva.
Many other communities also suffered a similar fate. I hope the present efforts will awaken Orkut towards Hindu sensitivities, said Vivek Chudamani, owner of a revived group with 51,626 members.
But the once affected owners or in-charge of these communities have now decided to use identical display picture showcasing Goddess Durga killing demon King Mahishasura. They hope it would help the members to recognize the group.
Also, all the major communities related to RSS, Hindutva, Nationalist leaders and preachers communities have been requested a change in their main profile picture meant for identification.
The pro-Hindutva communities have decided to hold Orkut Hindu Shakti Vijay Saptah (Victory day for Orkuts Hindutva communities) from June 10 to 17.

NAGPUR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief KS Sudarshan on Sunday blamed India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, for rejecting Nepal’s proposal of merger into India on the lines of other princely states shortly after Independence.
Sudarshan held Nehru responsible for today’s turmoil in Nepal and Tibet, which, he said, was handed over by him to China, despite being aware of the neighbour’s expansionist tendency.
“It was a mistake on Nehru’s part that he refused a proposal by Nepal’s prime minister Matrikaprasad Koirala for including the Himalayan kingdom in India,” Sudarshan said at the concluding function of the third-year officers’ training course at Reshimbaug grounds.
Elucidating that national interest was being sacrificed for personal or selfish interests, Sudarshan said China’s excesses in Tibet were the fallout of Nehru’s folly. “Nehru had no propriety to hand over Tibet to China, which is now staking its claim on Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim,” he said.
Sudarshan targetted Communists for bullying UPA government to side with China. He said India’s communists wagged their tails before China while belittling their own country. “They take credit for the good things and blame UPA government for the bad things,” he said. “Even as oil prices and inflation are rising, they are pretending to be opposed to it; if they are so, they
should withdraw support.”
Sudarshan criticised the Centre for following the western economic model and rejecting India’s cultural and traditional wisdom.
“This is because the people of this country cannot decide what is good for them,” he said.
Taking a leaf from the chief guest, the shankaracharya of Ramchandrapura Math of Karnataka, Shri Raghaveshwar Bharati, who said cow slaughter was a reason for farmers still committing suicides in Vidarbha and elsewhere, Sudarshan appealed to the prime minister to introduce anti-cow slaughter bill in Parliament and get it passed with Congress and BJP support. This, he
said, was an example of selfish political interests overriding national interests. “Stopping cow slaughter was important to the propagation of organic and natural farming, which, in turn, would stop farmers’ suicides" he said.

RSS is most misunderstood movement, says Advani
MUMBAI: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani on Saturday said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been one of the most misunderstood patriotic movements of pre-Independent India and India of the 20th century. The RSS is not really an organisation but a movement that has transformed society and made lakhs of young men into nationalists, he said.
He was speaking after launching a collection of articles titled Rashtra Aradhak on the life of Jhamatmal Wadhwani, former president of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh and founder of the Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha. Wadhwani passed away last year after a heart attack.
Mr Advani said he knew Wadhwani since 1942 as they had joined the RSS around the same time and he was a constant source of inspiration. There was no thought then to join politics, the main idea being to drive the British away, he said.
He said the book is not only about Wadhwani but also about the RSS. Swami Vivekanand had said India needed “man-making” machinery and the RSS was in reality a “man making” machine, Mr Advani remarked.
He lauded Wadhwani for being an ideal and selfless RSS worker who did a lot to remove the misunderstanding about the RSS being a fundamentalist organisation, among other things. In Sindh, Wadhwani worked with such sincerity and got all the Hindus together there, it was interesting to note, the Congress was not opposed to the RSS, Mr. Advani recalled.
Mr. Advani said if a referendum was conducted in Tharparkar district in Sindh, adjacent to Rajasthan, as it was done in Sylhet, most of the people there would have voted to stay with India and the Sindhi community would not have been scattered as it is now.

वामपंथी आतंक की यही कलुष कथा है कि .......

राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ केरल के कन्नूर जिले में संघ के स्वयं सेवक की नृशंसता पूर्वक हत्या के विरोध में पहली बार संघ ने देश व्यापी चलाये गये आन्दोलन के तहत शनिवार 29 मार्च को जिला कलेक्ट्री पर आम सभा होगी। सभा के पश्चात केरल में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने के लिए जिला कलेक्टर के माध्यम से प्रधानमंत्री व राष्ट्रपति के नाम ज्ञापन दिया जायेगा। शुक्रवार को सर्वऋतु विलास स्थित संघ कार्यालय केशवनिकुंज में पहली बार बुलाये गये संवाददाता सम्मेलन में चित्तौड प्रान्त के सह प्रान्त प्रचारक श्रीवर्द्घन ने कहा कि केरल के कन्नूर जिले माक्र्सवादियों का हिंसक ताण्डव 5 से 11 मार्च तक स्वयंसेवक की नृशंसता पूर्वक की गई हत्या के विरोध में 25 से 31 मार्च देश व्यापी संघ द्वारा आन्दोलन चलाया गया। आन्दोलन में सार्वजनिक स्थान या चौराहे पर आमसभा कर आम नागरिकों तक विषय की जानकारी पहुंचाना है। कल शनिवार को उदयपुर में जिा कलेक्ट्री के बार 2 से 4 बजे तक पहली बार आम सभा होगी। श्रीवर्धन ने बताया कि गत पांच मार्च शिवरात्रि को उत्तरी केरल के माकपाई गृह जिले कन्नूर में अलग-अलग स्थानों पर राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के पांच कार्यकर्त्ताओं की निर्दयतापूर्वक हत्या कर दी माक्र्सवादी कम्प्यूनिस्ट पार्टी के हत्यारेकार्यकर्त्ताओं ने हत्यारे माकपाईयों ने गरीब दैनिक वेतनभोगी (लॉरी चालक, लांड्रीवर्कर, मिस्त्री इत्यादी) स्वयंसेवकों की हत्या तालिबानी हथकण्डों को अपनाते हुए पूर्व योजित रूप से की है। थलसेरी गांव के एक स्वयं सेवक श्री सत्यन जो कि एक राजमिस्त्री था को उसके कार्यस्थल से बाहर घसीटकर गर्दन घड से पूरी अलग कर दी गई तथा सिरकटे घड को उसी के घर के सामने फेंक दिया गया। एक अन्य लॉरी क्लीनर 22 वर्षीय स्वयंसेवक निखिल की धारदार हथियारों से हत्या कर दी गई। इसी दिन तहसील शारीरिक प्रमुख सुमेश पर हमला कर उसका बाया हाथ पूरी तरह काट कर गम्भीर रूप से घायल कर दिया गया जो अभी भी जीवन व मृत्यु के बीच संघर्षरत है। शिवरात्रि के अगले दिन 6 मार्च को कुतुपरम्बा गांव के महेश की गर्दन माकपाई गुण्डों ने सरे आम घड से अलग कर दिया। इसके अगले दिन 7 मार्च को कुड्डीथेरी के सुरेश बाबू की गला रेत कर तथा इलथ्थुजा गांव के 65 वर्षीय केवी सुरेन्द्रन की तलवारों से गोदकर निर्ममता पूर्वक हत्या कर दी। इन तीन घटनाओंसे एक दर्जन से अधिक स्वयंसेवक गम्भीर रूप से घायल हुए। 4॰ से अधिक स्वयंसेवकोंके घर लूटपाट कर तबाह कर दिये गये। राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संध अश्रुपूरित नेत्रों से अपने स्वयंसेवकों को श्रद्घांजलि अर्पित करते हुए आहत एवं भग्न हृदय से पूरजोर शब्दों में इस कुकृत्य की भर्त्सना करता है। इन घटनाओं से बुरी तरह आहत होकर संघ समर्थकों एवं स्वयंसेवकों ने माकपा के दिल्ली मुख्यालय के सामने स्वयं शान्तिपूर्ण विरोध प्रदर्शन किया जिसमें बडी संख्या में महिलाएं भी उपस्थित थी। लोकतात्रिक तरीके से शान्तिपूर्वक किया जा रहा विरोध प्रदर्शन भी माकपाईयों को नागवार गुजरा। सीपीएम कार्यकर्त्ताओं ने नंदी ग्राम और सिंगुर की तरह असहिष्णुता का परिचय देते हुए प्रदर्शनकारियों पर पथराव किया, कुर्सियां फेंकी, लकडी के गट्टे फेंककर उन्हें उत्तेजित करने का कुत्सिय प्रयास किया। दुर्भाग्य पूर्वक वहां पर हिंसक झडपे हुई। माकपाई कहर यहीं समाप्त नहीं हुआ, वामपंथी दबाव में दिल्ली पुलिस ने दो दर्जन से अधिक लोगों के विरूद्घ मामला दर्ज किया जबकि दूसरी और एक भी माकपाई पर मामला नहीं बनाया। उलटा चोर कोतवाल को डांटे उक्ति को चरितार्थ करते हुए वामपंथियों ने दो दिन तक लोकतंत्र की सर्वोच्च संस्था संसद की कार्यवाही ठप्प रखी। आग में घी डालते हुए वामपंथी लोकसभाध्यक्ष सोमनाथ चटर्जी ने माकपा मुख्यालय पर प्रदर्शन मामले पर बहस की वामपंथियों कीमांग उदारतापूर्वक स्वीकार कर ली जबकि भाजपा द्वारा कन्नूर हत्याकाण्ड पर बहस की मांग को राज्य का अन्दरूनी मामला बताते हुए सिरे से खारिज कर दिया। माकपाई आतंक का कहर संघ पर पहली बार बरपा तो ऐसा नहीं है। उत्तरी केरल का सर्वाधिक साक्षर कन्नूर जिला माकपा केरल की जन्मभूमि रहा है। अतः माकपाई उसे स्वाभाविक रूप से अपना गढ मानते है। इस जिले में 1943 से संघ कार्य प्रारम्भ हुआ। संघ के निस्वार्थ, शुद्घ सात्विक प्रेम एवं निश्छल भाव पर आधारित कार्य से आकृष्ट होकर अनेकलोग संघ की शाखाओं में आने लगे, जिनमें कई माकपा कार्यकर्त्ता भी थे। अपने अस्तित्व पर मंडराते खतरों को अनुभूत करते हुए माकपाईयों ने स्वयंसेवकों को डराना धमकाना एवं शाखा जाने से रोकने के अन्य असफल प्रयोगों का सहारा लिया। इतने से बात नहीं बनती देख 1969 में उन्होंने वीरामकृष्णन जो कि थलचेरी शाखा के मुख्य शिक्षक थे, की हत्या कर नृशंस हत्याओं का एक सिलसिला प्रारम्भ कर दिया। इस हत्या के मुख्य अभियुक्त रहे पिनाई विजयन वर्तमान में केरल राज्य इकाई केसचिव है। एक अन्य हत्या के अभियुक्त रहे केडियार बालकृष्णन केरल सरकार में गृह मंत्री है। माकपाईयों ने आज तक कन्नूर जिले में 6॰ स्वयंसेवकों की हत्या तथा सैकडों स्वयंसेवकों का अंग-भंग कर दिया गया जो अपनी आजीविका चलाने में भी असमर्थ हो गये है। साथ ही सैकडों स्वयंसेवकों को अपाहिस जीवन व्यतीत करना पड रहा है। गुजरात के कुख्यात अपराधी सोहराबुद्दीन के पुलिस कार्यवाही में मारे जाने पर गुजरात से लेकर संसद के गलियारों तक हंगामा मचाने वाले लोग तथा मानवाधिकार की वकालत करने वाले तथा कथित सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ताआ केरल की हत्याओं पर मौन क्यों है? क्यों उन्हें सैकडों उखडे हुए परिवारों की अति पुकार सुनाई नहीं देती? वामपंथी पृष्ठभूमि के ये लोग नंदीग्राम तथासिगूर में किसान परिवारों की महिनों तक उठने वाली चीख को नहीं सुन सके? नंदीग्राम, सिंगुर से लेकर कन्नूर तक किए जा रहे वामपंथी अत्याचारों के विरूद्घ क्यों कोई आवाज नहीं उठाता? वामपंथी आतंक की यही कलुष कथा है कि वे अपने विरोध का हिंसात्मक तरीकों से दमन करते आए है। रूस चीन में पैदा हुए स्टालिन, लेनिन, माओ, माक्र्स से प्रेरणा पाने वाले ये वामपंथी भारतीय लोकतंत्र में कैसे आस्था रख सकते है। पूरे देश के सामने इनके कुकृत्यों को सामने लाने के लिए राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ ने राष्ट्र व्यापी जन आंदोलन का प्रारम्भ किया है। इसी कडी में संघ ने पूरे देश भर में विभिन्न मुख्यालयों पर पूर्णतः शांति पूर्वक एवं लोकतात्रिक धरना प्रदर्शन तथा विचार गोष्ठियां का आयोजन किया करने का बीडा उठाया है। पत्रकार वार्ता में महानगर संघ चालक राजेन्द्र कोठारी व प्रान्त प्रचार प्रमुख परमेन्द्र दशोरा मौजूद थे। संघ क्या हैः प्रान्त सह प्रचारक श्रीवर्द्घन नेकहा कि 1925 में राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ की स्थापना रचनात्मक कार्यो में लगा हुआ है। संघ कार्य लोक सम्फ, लोक संग्रह, लोक निर्माण व लोक नियोजक। 194॰ तक संघ संगठन के कार्य में लगा हुआ था। संघ के गटकों मेंअखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद व भारतीय मजदूर संघ सहित 51 संगठन कार्य वर्तमान मेंएक लाख चार हजार सात सौ अठारह सेवा प्रकल्प देश भर में चल रहे है। ग्राम विकास पर पिछले दर वर्षो से कार्य किये जा रहे है।

राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ रोष रैली
ऊना। राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ ने शनिवार को शहर में सीपीएम के कथित हिंसा व अत्याचारों के विरोध में रोष रैली निकाली। रैली ऊना के एमसी पार्क से शुरू हुई जो रोटरी चौक व मुख्य बाजार से होते हुए नया बस अड्डे तक पहुंची। इस दौरान राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ ने खूब नारेबाजी भी की।
इससे पहले एमसी पार्क में राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के जिला अध्यक्ष सुभाष वरिष्ठ ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि मार्क्सवादी कम्यूनिस्ट पार्टी के कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा उत्तरी करेल के कन्नूर जिले में जारी हिंसा की ताजा घटनाओं में पांच मार्च 2008 से अब तक संघ के पांच कार्यकर्ताओं की हत्या हो चुकी है और दर्जनों गंभीर रूप से घायल हुए हैं। इसी दौरान 40 से अधिक स्वयंसेवकों के घरों को भी बर्बाद कर दिया गया है। उन्होंने नागरिकों से आग्रह किया है कि प्रजातंत्र और अपने मौलिक अधिकारों की रक्षा के व्यापक हित में सीपीएम के इस अभियान के विरुद्ध अपनी आवाज बुलंद करें।

नई दिल्ली [जागरण ब्यूरो]। तिब्बत मामले पर केंद्र सरकार के रवैये को शर्मनाक करार देते हुए भाजपा व राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के नेताओं ने दो टूक कहा है कि चीन से अलग हुए बिना तिब्बत का कोई भविष्य नहीं है।
पूर्व विदेश मंत्री यशवंत सिन्हा ने कहा है तिब्बत को जम्मू-कश्मीर से जोड़ कर नहीं देखा जा सकता, दोनों मामले पूरी तरह अलग हैं। संघ के अखिल भारतीय पदाधिकारी इंद्रेश कुमार ने कहा कि चीन का इतिहास बताता है कि तिब्बत उसका हिस्सा कभी नहीं रहा है। यही वजह है कि चीन की दीवार तिब्बत के उस पार है।
तिब्बत के समर्थन में देश भर से उठ रही आवाज को भाजपा व संघ नेताओं ने मजबूती दी है। सोमवार को यहां एक विचार गोष्ठी में भाजपा के यशवंत सिन्हा, प्रकाश जावेडकर व संघ के इंद्रेश कुमार ने साफ कर दिया कि तिब्बत पर समझौता करना उसे खोना है।
इंद्रेश कुमार ने इतिहास के पन्ने पलटते हुए कहा कि सौ साल पुराने चीन के इतिहास में तिब्बत उसका हिस्सा नहीं है। उस समय के चीनी इतिहास में चीन के क्षेत्रफल, उसकी जनसंख्या और तो और चीन की दीवार के भीतर भी तिब्बत का उल्लेख नहीं है। यदि इस समय चुप रहा गया तो तिब्बत में तिब्बती लोग व उनकी सभ्यता इतिहास की चीज रह जाएगी और सब कुछ चीनी हो जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा, भारत को अत्याचार का खुलकर प्रतिवाद करना चाहिए और उसे चीन से डरने की कतई जरूरत नहीं है।
पूर्व विदेश मंत्री व भाजपा सांसद यशवंत सिन्हा ने कहा कि आज वे विदेश मंत्री नहीं हैं, इसलिए नाप-तौल कर बोलने की जरूरत नहीं है। उन्होंने बिना किसी लाग-लपेट के स्पष्ट शब्दों में कहा कि चीन से अलग हुए बिना तिब्बत का कोई भविष्य नहीं है। उन्होंने तिब्बत समस्या को चीन से जोड़े जाने का विरोध करते हुए कहा कि दोनों पूरी तरह अलग-अलग मामले हैं। साथ ही यह भी साफ है कि जम्मू कश्मीर के मुद्दे पर चीन ने भारत का साथ कब दिया? उसने हमेशा भारत विरोधी रुख ही दर्शाया है। इसलिए तिब्बत पर उसके साथ कोई नरमी दिखाने की जरूरत नहीं है। भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने कहा कि भारत के राजदूत को चीनी सरकार द्वारा रात दो बजे तलब करने पर केंद्र सरकार की चुप्पी शर्मनाक है।

Around 60 members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held a protest at the Sector 7/8 roundabout of the city today against the killing of five members in Kerala by the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
They not only raised slogans against the CPM but also burnt flags of the party claiming that the bloodshed of the RSS members should immediately be stopped in Kerala.
“The entire aim of the protest is to make the general public aware of the dirty policies of the CPM. Members of the CPM were involved in not only mutilating the bodies of five RSS men in Kerala, but also injuring a large number of them,” said the RSS spokesperson, Gopala Krishna while addressing the gathering at the spot.
He added that: “Through the protest, we want to put across to the CPM that using brute force is ineffectual in trying to suppress the people fighting against the atrocities of the CPM regime.

Statement issued by the Sarkaryavah Sri Mohanrao Bhagwat on the violence in Kannur
Five RSS activists have been killed and scores grievously injured in renewed attacks by the CPM cadres since 5 March 2008 in the North Kerala district of Kannur. Houses of more than 40 Swayamsevaks have been destroyed in this violence.
It is claimed that the Communist Party of Kerala was formed in Pinarayi in Kannur district and the Party considers this district as its bastion. The RSS work was started in 1943 in this district and continued peacefully for more than 25 years. Many CPM workers were attracted to the RSS work and joined in large numbers. However, unable to tolerate its growing strength the CPM resorted to murder politics since 1969. Sri Ramakrishnan, a daily wage earner and the Mukhyashikshak of Thalassery who faced the Communist terrorism courageously and started several Shakas in and around Thalassery, became their first victim and was brutally killed in 1969. Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, present State Secretary of CPM who hails from this district, was one of the main accused in that murder case. The present Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who also hails from this district, was an accused in the murder of another Swayamsevak Sri Karimbil Satheesan.
So far more than 60 Swayamsevaks have been killed by the CPM in this district alone. Even aged women were not spared. On May 22, 2002 Smt. Ammu Amma (72 years) was killed in a bomb attack by CPM workers while she was returning in a jeep after attending the funeral of a Swayamsevak Sri Uthaman, who was killed in the CPM attack the previous day.
Peace Efforts
The RSS had all along welcomed and supported all peace efforts. In order to avoid further violence, the founder of the BMS, Sri Dattopant Thengdi and Sri P. Parameswaran, the then Director of Deendayal Research Institute, New Delhi had discussions with Communist stalwarts like Sri EMS Namboodripad and Sri Ramamurthy in Delhi. Leaders of the RSS and CPM had similar discussions in Kerala too. But before the ink on the peace declaration dried up, there were unprovoked attacks on RSS cadres. Committed to maintaining peace the RSS had agreed to sit with CPM leaders again and sign a document for peace in 1999 at the initiative of the highly respected Js. Krishna Iyer and the then Chief Minister Sri E.K. Nayanar. However, just two days after this initiative the CPM cadres attacked the State Vice President of BJYM Sri Jayakrishnan Master and murdered him in a most gruesome manner in front of small children in his class room. Peace conferences became totally ineffective with no positive result whatsoever.
Still for some years, despite serious provocation the RSS stuck to its commitment of maintaining peace and never retaliated. However it resulted in loosing a number of good activists only while the CPM became more brutal. Whenever they are in power in the State their brutality crosses all limits with the help of obliging Government machinery.
The latest killing spree that started in March claimed the lives of 5 Swayamsevaks so far. On March 5 (Sivarathri day) Sri Sumesh, Thalassery Taluk Sharirik Shikshan Pramukh was attacked near Thalassery town. He lost his left hand and is still in Intensive Care Unit. Sri Sumesh always used to represent Sangh in the peace conferences. On the same day a Swayamsevak Nikhil (22), a lorry Cleaner and the sole bread winner of a poor family was killed. Another Swayamsevak, Sri Sathyan, a mason, was virtually dragged out of his work place and beheaded. His headless body was thrown by the wayside near his house. On the very next day i.e. on March 6, 2008 Sri Mahesh of Kuthuparamba was hacked to death. His head was also severed off. Again on the next day i.e, March 7, 2008 Sri Suresh Babu of Kodiyeri and Sri K.V.Surendran (65) of Illathuthazha were brutally assassinated. Thus within 3 days 5 young lives belonging to the working class were taken away. More than a dozen youths have been maimed and become handicapped.
Honest Officers not tolerated
Honest Police officers were never tolerated. On Jan 12, 2008, one CPM worker Sri Dhanesh was killed by some unknown miscreants. The CPM accused the RSS, but the DySP in charge of the investigation Sri Habeeb Rahman categorically stated that RSS was not at all involved in this murder. Immediately afterwards that upright officer was transferred from the district. On Jan 26, 2008, one notorious criminal Jijesh was killed. His nickname 'Veerappan' itself reveals his nature. Again CPM blamed Sangh. DSP Sri Manoj Abraham after investigation stated that NDF (a Muslim extremist organization) was involved in it and RSS was innocent. Again that no-nonsense officer was also transferred summarily. In both the cases the RSS district leadership had promptly rebutted the charges in press conferences.
Shakha Ban in Kannur
There is a virtual ban on Sangh shakhas by the CPM in the areas of their dominance in Kannur. The basic right to conduct organization work is being denied not only to the RSS but to all other political parties including Congress and CPI. Examples are so many.
The shakha at Engayilpeedika at Kodiyeri, the home-town of State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, was attacked and disallowed to function by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's nephew and his henchmen 8 years ago. Since then repeated attempts to restart the shakha there have been foiled by the CPM cadres. The CPM is also enforcing a code- a kind of Section 144 - applicable to swayamsevaks in that village. If they want to live there they should not meet or even sit together. They should walk around or travel only. They should not be seen in public when the Home Minister visits the area. The fate of the shakha at Kodiyeri is not an isolated one. There are up to 50 places in Kannur where the Sangh is not allowed to hold shakhas. Any attempt to 'violate' this ban would be met with brutal force.
KPCC president Sri Ramesh Chennitahla had brought out a report during the last elections in which he cited that in 265 booths in Kannur district no party agent except that of the CPM was allowed to sit.
It is noteworthy that the judiciary has, on several occasions, reprimanded the State Police for not preventing such human rights abuses by the CPM cadres in Kannur. Particularly scathing were the observations of the High Court a couple of days ago, which openly said that only the presence of Central Forces can restore normalcy in the region.
It is to highlight these acts of Stalinism and fascism of the CPM that some members of the RSS and other organisations including a large number of women spontaneously marched in a peaceful manner to the CPM HQ in Delhi. Betraying their Nandigram-style intolerance the CPM cadres repeated what they have been doing in Kannur - attacked the peaceful demonstrators with brickbats and chairs - resulting in unfortunate violenc.
I appeal to all right-thinking and peace-loving citizens of the country to raise their voice against this fascist and Stalinist face of the CPM in the larger interest of our democracy and freedom. I call upon the RSS Swayamsevaks allover the country to stand by our Swayamsevak brethren who have become victims of the brutalities of the CPM and expose the true nature and face of it which has no place in a country with such a hoary tradition of tolerance and pluralistic ethic.
As far as the RSS in Kerala is concerned, it would zealously guard its Constitutional right of freedom of expression, association and propagation.

गत दिनों भारतीय मूल की अंतरिक्ष यात्री सुनीता विलियम्स कुछ दिन के प्रवास पर अपने पिता डा० दीपक पंड्या के साथ भारत आयीं। वे अपने गांव गयीं, हैदराबाद तथा दिल्ली में अनेक कार्यक्रमों में शामिल हुईं। सोनिया गांधी तथा राष्ट्रपति श्रीमती प्रतिभा पाटिल से भेंट की। उनके सभी कार्यक्रमों को समाचार माध्यमों ने पर्याप्त प्रसिद्धि दी। ठीक भी है, वे न केवल नारी शक्ति के उन्नयन की, अपितु भारतीय प्रतिभा की प्रतीक भी बन गयी हैं।
गुजरात की राजधानी कर्णावती (अमदाबाद) में उन्होंने अन्तरराष्ट्रीय संस्था रोटरी क्लब के मंच से नगर के प्रबुद्ध नागरिकों को संबोधित किया। इसमें उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें अंतरिक्ष में जाने के लिए सैनिक जैसे कठोर प्रशिक्षण के साथ तालमेल बिठाने में कोई परेशानी नहीं हुई, चूंकि उनके परिवार में राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ का अनुशासित माहौल है। उनके पिता यद्यपि अब अमरीका में ही बस गये हैं; पर एक समय वे संघ में सक्रिय रहे हैं। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि अंतरिक्ष में चक्कर लगाते समय भारत और श्रीलंका के मध्य स्थित सेतु के चित्र लिये थे।
उनके इस बयान को गुजरात के समाचार पत्रों ने तो खूब छापा; पर दिल्ली के सेक्यूलर मीडिया ने उसे दबा दिया। पर दिल्ली से छपने वाले अंग्रेजी साप्ताहिक आर्गनाइजर में उसके छपने से भारत के कांग्रेसियों और वामपंथियों में हड़कम्प मच गया है। वे इस पर स्पष्टीकरण देते फिर रहे हैं। उन्होंने अमदाबाद में कार्यक्रम के आयोजक के मुंह से भी कहलवाया कि सुनीता ने संघ या रामसेतु के बारे में ऐसा कुछ नहीं कहा; पर जो बात रिकार्ड में दर्ज हो चुकी है, उसे झुठलाना असंभव है।
जहां तक राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ की बात है, तो अनुशासन उसकी एक बड़ी पहचान है। केवल संघ ही नहीं, तो स्वयंसेवक सामाजिक जीवन में जहां भी काम करता है, वहां लोग उस पर सहज ही विश्वास करते हैं, चूंकि उन्हें मालूम होता है कि यह व्यक्ति संघ की प्रक्रिया में से निकल कर आया है। यहां तक कि जो लोग राजनीतिक कारणों से संघ का सार्वजनिक रूप से विरोध करते हैं, वे भी बंद कमरे में उसकी भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा करने में पीछे नहीं रहते।
संघ के अनुशासन का रहस्य उसके कार्यक्रमों में छिपा है। संघ की शाखा पर जो कार्यक्रम होते हैं, वहां बड़े, छोटे या ऊंच-नीच का भेद नहीं होता। प्राय: शाखा पर कार्यक्रम कराने वाले युवा वर्ग के लोग होते हैं; पर उनकी आज्ञा का पालन उनके पिता की उम्र के लोग भी सहर्ष करते हैं। यदि सरसंघचालक भी किसी शाखा पर जाते हैं, तो वे उस शाखा के मुख्य शिक्षक के आदेश का पालन करते हैं, भले ही वह कक्षा दस का छात्र ही हो।
यही स्थिति संघ के बौद्धिक कार्यक्रमों की है। प्राय: उत्सव या शाखा पर सभी उम्र के लोग होते हैं। उनमें से अनुभवी लोगों को बोलने का अवसर दिया जाता है; पर कभी-कभी प्रशिक्षण के लिए या साहस बढ़ाने और अनुभव लेने के लिए छोटे कार्यकर्ता को भी बोलन या गीत आदि गाने को कहा जाता है। ऐसे समय में वह मंच पर या कुर्सी पर बैठता है और सब बड़े और अनुभवी कार्यकर्ता उसके सामने भूमि पर पंक्तिबद्ध होकर। वे उसकी बात को पूरे मनोयोग से सुनते हैं। बाद में उसकी पीठ थपथपा कर उसका साहस बढ़ाते हैं तथा यदि कहीं भूल हुई हो, तो उसे सुधारते हैं।
सामान्यत: संघ के कार्यक्रमों में सब लोग भूमि पर ही बैठते हैं। हां, जो लोग उम्र या स्वास्थ्य संबंधी परेशानी के कारण धरती पर नहीं बैठ सकते, उनके लिए कुर्सी का प्रबंध कर दिया जाता है; पर इसमें सम्पन्नता या किसी विशेष वर्ग के आधार पर भेद नहीं किया जाता।
इसी प्रकार संघ के शिविर में होता है। वहां सब नीचे सोते हैं। सब अपना बिस्तर और दैनिक आवश्यकता का सामान साथ लाते हैं। एक साथ रहना, खाना, खेलना और कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेने से समता और समानता से भी आगे समरसता की भावना सबके दिल में बस जाती है। इसी लिए संघ के स्वयंसेवक खानपान या शादी विवाह में जाति बंधनों से मुक्त रहते हैं।
ऐसे शिविर में भोजन सब लोग धरती पर पंक्ति में बैठ कर करते हैं। सामान्य स्वयंसेवक हो या बड़ा अधिकारी, सब वहीं बैठकर एक जैसा भोजन करते हैं। वितरण का काम भी शिविरार्थी स्वयंसेवक ही अपनी बारी आने पर करते हैं। इसमें भी जाति, वर्ग या क्षेत्र का बंधन नहीं होता। हां, उम्र या स्वास्थ्य के चलते कुछ लोगों के लिए विशेष प्रबंध होता है, यह अलग बात है।
संघ के अनुशासन के साथ ही उसकी देशभक्ति की भी अलग ही छवि है। इसी के चलते नेहरू जी ने संघ के स्वयंसेवकों को गणतंत्र दिवस की परेड में आमन्त्रित किया था और लाल बहादुर शास्त्री ने भारत-पाक युद्ध के समय सरसंघचालक श्री गोलवलकर को बुलाकर परामर्श किया था। एक बार संजय गांधी ने भी युवा कांग्रेस की शाखा संघ की तर्ज पर लगाने का प्रयास किया था; पर नकल कभी असल नहीं हो सकती, इसलिए उनका यह प्रयोग औंधे मुंह गिर गया।
देशभक्ति के संस्कार भी शाखा के खेल, दंड, नियुद्ध, आसन, व्यायाम आदि शारीरिक कार्यक्रम तथा गीत, बोधकथा, सुभाषित, अमृत वचन, बौद्धिक आदि वैचारिक कार्यक्रमों में से प्राप्त होते हैं। इसी अनुशासनप्रियता और देशभक्ति के कारण संघ आज विश्व का सबसे बड़ा स्वयंसेवी संगठन बना है। वह शासन से कोई सहायता नहीं लेता और राजनीति में भाग नहीं लेता। प्राय: सत्ता का उसे विरोध ही सहना पड़ा है, फिर भी वह सबसे आगे है।
जो लोग आज संघ का या सुनीता के बयानों का विरोध कर रहे हैं, उन्हें चाहिए कि वे संघ की कार्यशैली का अध्ययन करें। विरोध करने से संघ बढ़ेगा ही, घटेगा नहीं।

छत्तीसगढ़ में धर्मांतरण रोकने के लिए राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ अब आदिवासी क्षेत्रों में घर-घर पहुंचकर उन्हें गोंड़ समाज की गौरवगाथा बताएगा। उन्हें बताया जाएगा कि वे पिछडे या शोष्ति नहीं हैं, बल्कि सूर्यवंशी क्षत्रियों के वंशज हैं। इसके लिए 'गोंड़ वंश प्रदीपिका' के नाम से एक लाख पुस्तक बांटने की योजना है। इसकी जिम्मेदारी धर्म जागरण विभाग को सौंपी गई है।
इस संबंध में आज धर्मसेना के प्रदेश कार्यालय में उच्चस्तरीय बैठक हुई। इसमें सभी जिलों से गोंड समाज के प्रतिनिधियों ने हिस्सा लिया। सूत्रों के मुताबिक बैठक में गोंड समाज के प्रमुख नेताओं ने बस्तर, सरगुजा, जशपुर, जांजगीर और दंतेवाड़ा समेत अधिकतर क्षेत्रों में धर्मांतरण की शिकायत की। उन्होंने बताया कि विदेशी पादरी आदिवासी क्षेत्रों में भ्रम फैलाने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। वे जनजातियों को द्रविड़ या हिंदू नहीं मानते। स्वार्थवश कुछ शिक्षित लोग भी उनका साथ दे रहे हैं। इससे आदिवासियों का धर्मांतरण आसानी से होने लगा है।
धर्म जागरण विभाग के अखिल भारतीय सह संयोजक राजेंद्र सिंह ने प्रतिनिधियों को समझाया कि गोंड़ समाज का एक गौरवशाली इतिहास रहा है। विदेशी इतिहासकारों ने इसे जानबूझकर छुपाकर रखा। इस बारे में काफी शोध के बाद असलियत सामने आई। उसे पुस्तक के रूप में घर-घर पहुंचाया जाएगा। पुस्तक में रानी दुर्गावती विश्वविद्यालय जबलपुर के प्रसिद्ध भूगोलवाो डा. शिवकुमार तिवारी, डा. जीएस धुरिए, डा. सच्चिदानंद एवं डा. कमल शर्मा के शोधों का वर्णन हैं। पुस्तक के मुताबिक विदेशी लेखकों क्रिस्टोफवान फ्यूरर हैमनडार्फ, हिसलप, फुस, ग्रिंगसन व शेरिंग ने गोमांस का सेवन न करना, बाल विवाह और जाति प्रथा को हिंदू धर्म का आधार माना। इसी लिहाज से उन्होंने गोंड़ समाज को कभी हिंदू नहीं माना।
आज भी बहुत से लोग इस धारणा को सच मानते हैं, जबकि भारतीय विद्वानों ने प्रमाणित किया है कि गोंड़ समाज हिंदू धर्म का अभिन्ना अंग रहा है। भारतीय विद्वान सच्चिदानंद ने अपने कई ग्रंथों में लिखा है कि गोंड़ जाति, दूसरी जातियों से अलग-थलग कभी नहीं रही। न ही दूसरे धर्म या जाति से उनका विरोध रहा है। मुगलकाल को छोड़कर कभी भी इनकी संस्कृति और धर्म पर आक्रमण नहीं हुए। बैठक के बाद गोंड़ समाज के प्रतिनिधियों को एक् हजार पुस्तकें दी गईं। पुस्तक के वितरण में संघ के अनुषंगिक संगठन के कार्यकर्ताओं को भी लगाया जाएगा। इस मौके पर राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के प्रांत प्रचारक रामदा चक्रधर, धर्म जागरण विभाग के प्रदेश संयोजक वीरेंद्र श्रीवास्तव समेत सभी जिलों के प्रतिनिधि मौजूद थे।

CPI-M, RSS workers clash in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, April 1 (IANS) Activists of Communist Party of India-Marxists (CPI-M) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) clashed near Paithan Gate area here during a rally to protest the killing of RSS workers in Kerala’s Kannur district last month. The clash took place Monday when a group of CPI-M activists descended on the scene where the RSS protest rally was on and objected to the burning of their party flag.
Scores of workers on either side sustained minor injuries in the clash amid slogan shouting.
Both sides complained to the police against the other late Monday night. The police have arrested 350 RSS workers including Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Haribhau Bagde and nine CPI-M activists and later released them on bail.
Other prominent RSS workers against whose names figured in the complaint include Sanjeev Deshpande, Shrikant Joshi and Dnyanoba Munde while Abhay Taksal, Ram Baheti, Manasi Baheti and Vasudha Kalyankar are among the CPI-M activists booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code, the police said.
The RSS rally was a part of nationwide protest against the lynching of five RSS workers and attack on 12 others, allegedly by CPI-M activists in Kannur district of Kerala, a state ruled by the Left party.
RSS leaders said the Kerala High Court castigated the CPI-M government there for not taking initiative to control a series of attacks on its workers and called for deployment of central paramilitary forces.

Three people have been injured after the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members clashed in Pune on Wednesday.
The incident, which took place near the CPM office, is a fallout of the fighting between the CPM and RSS activists in Kannur in Kerala last month when seven people were killed.
The violence in Kannur also spread to other cities including Delhi, where the CPM headquarters was attacked. The Rapid Action Force had to be called in to control the situation.
CPM leaders - who are currently in Coimbatore for the party congress - have strongly condemned the incident in Pune and have decided to raise the matter with the Maharashtra government.
Meanwhile, the high court wants the Kerala government to furnish all details regarding the investigations into last month's violence in Kannur.
The court said the police are acting partial and warned that if the investigation is unsatisfactory it will consider handing the case to the CBI or create a special court.
The state has been given time till May 21.
